Spoke Art is ecstatic to be announcing our subsequent exhibition in San Francisco, artist Bruce White‘s ICONS. Outfitted with a refreshing crop of velvet canvases, Bruce has produced a collection of legendary portraits featuring champions of humanity and inclusivity.
From pop lifestyle giants to politicians battling for positive improve, this exhibition is a true celebration of the dissimilarities that can be made when diversity is championed. Bruce had this to say about the inspiration guiding this sequence, “The earliest identified black velvet paintings were being introduced back by Marco Polo from Kashmir. Due to the fact the fabric was so pricey, it was reserved only for portraits of royalty and religious icons, topics of reverence and worship. I want to elevate and equate these heroes and allies of the LGBTQ movement to the amount of royalty and sainthood, celebrating the variety that designs our well-known lifestyle. “
